Ben McDermott and Shai Hope’s knock has helped the side to claim a winning start to the Guyana Amazon Warriors in the CPL 2025.
The Duo’s performance has helped the side to post a five-wicket win in Saturday’s clash. By this win, they went past St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the CPL 2025 points table.
Batting first, Andre Fletcher and Evin Lewis opened the innings while Lhaun dre Pretorius opened the bowling attack.
Despite, Evin Lewis (retire hurt) and Kyle Mayers got dismissed cheaply, Fletcher gave a solid start for the side scoring 60 runs.
With Shepherd gave Alick Athanaze a dismissal for 9 runs, Holder got dimissed by Gudakesh Motie for 7 runs.
Meanwhile, Andre Fletcher scoring 60 runs, Goolie scored 24 runs and Abbas Afridi’s contribution, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots scored 153 runs in 20 over innings.
Lhaun dre Pretorius went on to bag three wickets, Tahir Imran went on to bag two wickets. Shamar Joseph, Romario Shepherd and Gudakesh Motie bagged a wicket each.

In the pursuit of chasing the 154 run target, Ben McDermott and Kevlon Anderson opened the innings while Kyle Mayers opened the bowling attack.
With the dismissal of Anderson for 1 runs, Ben McDermott and Shai Hope made a 114 run partnership with McDermott scoring 75 runs off 39 deliveries which included 10 fours and 4 sixes.
With Hetmyer’s dismissal for a duck by Naseem Shah, Abbas Afridi bagged the wicket of Moeen Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed for 19 and 0 in the 17th over.
Meanwhile, Shai Hope Scored a fifty and remained unbeaten 56 runs to help the side towards victory as the reached the target in 18th over.
Ben McDermott was named as the Player of the match. Speaking on the post match conference, he said, Nice start to the CPL. Nice to get first win on the board. Hopefully we’ll play 10-11 more games. Cricket is a funny game.”
“It was pretty nice to bat on. Wasn’t easy to bat against Waqar. He (Hope) is one of the best in the world, was lovely to bat with him. I have played with him for the Hobart Hurricanes, was nice to bat with him again,” McDermott concluded.
Guyana Amazon Warriors will play their next game against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons on August 23 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua.
