BCCI names India squad for England Fifth Test; Bumrah Returns

The Indian ace spinner Jasprit Bumrah has returned to the Indian squad to play the final test in Dharamsala.

BCCI has announced the squad for the final test on England’s tour of India 2024. The pacer Jasprit Bumrah who rested in the fourth test to manage his workload has been included in the squad.

He dismissed 17 wickets in 3 matches against England in the series. He has an average of 14.54 across 7 tests in India with 31 wickets including two five-wicket hauls.

Bumrah became the first Indian bowler to get the top ranking in the ICC Test rankings in February after his 9-wicket haul in Vizag.

Off-spinner Washington Sundar has been released from the squad and will be joining the Tamil Nadu squad to play in the semifinals of the Ranji Trophy 2024 schedule against Mumbai.

On the other hand, The board has stated that KL Rahul who was subjected to a fitness test has been ruled out of the fifth test and final test in Dharamsala.

The WK-Batter has been monitored closely and has been coordinated with specialists in London to get an opinion on his injury extent.

Rajat Patidar who failed to impress after making his Test debut in the ongoing series has retained his place in the squad. He scored 32 runs in the first innings of the second test. After that he was sent out in a duck in two innings of six innings he played.

BCCI added further that senior pacer Mohammed Shami successfully underwent surgery on February 26, 2024, for his right heel problem. He is recovering well and will soon head to the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru.

India has already clinched the series 3-1 in the five-match series against England. India and England will be playing their fifth test on March 07 at HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala.
