Australia Tour of India 2022: Ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022, India will host Australia to play a three-match T20I series in September later this year.

In terms of T20I series, Australia had last visited India in 2018/19. The 3-match T20I series had finished in a 1-1 tie. They will be keen to register their first T20I series victory against India which they failed to achieve in the last bilateral series.
According to a report in foxsports.com.au, “Australia will play a number of white ball series with home games against Zimbabwe, New Zealand, West Indies and England coming either side of three T20s in India in September.”
The series will serve as a preparation for the showpiece event to be held in Australia in October and November this year.
India’s next assignment is a five-match T20 series against South Africa at home from June 9 to 19, followed by a tour of Ireland for two T20Is.
The Rohit Sharma-led side then takes on England in the rescheduled fifth and final Test, which was postponed last year due to a COVID-19 outbreak in the Indian camp, on July 1.
The ‘Men in Blue’ are then scheduled to play a white-ball series including three T20s and as many ODIs against England.

Next year, Australia is also set to tour India for a four-Test tour in February and March. Australia will also tour India for a 4-match test series in February, and March 2023. The series is likely to be part of the ongoing World Test Championship cycle.
In terms of test, Australia had last visited India in 2016/17. They have lost the last three Tests series against India and will be keen to end a dry run under new Ashes-winning captain Pat Cummins.
They had last won a Test series against India away from home in 2004/05. Thus, the four-match test series will be one of the toughest assignments for Australia ahead of IPL 2023.
