The star batter Virat Kohli has opened up on his opinion over Chennai Super Kings’ visit to Bengaluru at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium stating it as unmatched and adding hype toward the contest.
The veteran has picked the Chennai Super Kings vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru clash as one of the most exciting environments he has experienced in the history of the Indian Premier League.
He highlighted that CSK’s matches in Bengaluru have been as intense as they come, referring to the fierce rivalry between the two fanbases over the years.
Kohli was asked to name the most intense rivalry in the IPL, but the star batter instead reflected on the charged up atmosphere whenever the CSK play in Bengaluru.
“One team that we historically, I have felt, had tense games is playing CSK in Bengaluru. There, they will have Chennai fans. In Bengaluru, playing against CSK, a lot of fans from Chennai are also there.”
“There is a bit of tension. In their stadium, it’s full of CSK fans. Here, in Bengaluru, people are like ‘okay, come see the game’. There, it’s full of yellow. Our fans don’t travel as much.”
“CSK fans also travel a lot; we all know that. They buy tickets very early. They occupy a section (at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium). The game also gets very competitive. CSK vs RCB is the most exciting environment that I have been a part of,” Virat Kohli said.
Virat Kohli’s side had a memorable outing in Chennai earlier this season winning at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium against the Super Kings for the first time since 2008.
Rajat Patidar’s captaincy has proved to secure a 50-run victory over the arch-rivals in the ongoing IPL 2025. Last year CSK’s visit to Bengaluru had a dramatic end as homeside knocke out the Chennai Super Kings out of the playoff race.
The match went in favour of Bengaluru after MS Dhoni failing short of pulling off what had looked like an improbable chase.
