The RCB captain Rajat Patidar has been fined INR 12 lakhs for maintaining a slow over-rate in the IPL 2025 game against Mumbai Indians played on April 07.
He became the fourth captain to be fined in the 2025 season of the IPL after Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant and Riyan Parag.
RCB’s first offence of the season under Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct deals with minimum over-rate violations.
“As this was his team’s first offence of the season under Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which pertains to minimum over-rate offences, Patidar was fined Rs 12 lakh,” stated an IPL media release.
“Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Rajat Patidar has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match No. 21 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium,” the official statement read.
Patidar who captained the side for the first time in the Indian Premier League (IPL) has led the side to an impressive start, winning three out of their first four games under his leadership.
RCB’s victory under Rajat Patidar have come against three of the most formidable teams in IPL history, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai.
He has scored 161 runs in four matches, including two half centuries. With the remaining games of the season unfolds, the early signs point toward a promising chapter in RCB’s journey.
RCB beat Mumbai in a final over thriller at Wankhede Stadium with Patidar smashing 64 runs off 32 deliveries against MI. Patidar has been in tremendous with his batting and captaincy.
The right hander has looked confident in the field, handling the RCB spin duo of Suyash Sharma and Krunal Pandya brilliantly.
He was named as the Player of the Match. Speaking in the post match conference, “That was a really amazing match. the way the bowlers have shown courage, it was amazing. To be honest, this award goes to the bowling unit because it’s not easy to stop a batting unit on this ground, so the credit goes to them.”
“The way the fast bowlers executed their plans was great. The way Krunal has bowled was amazing. In the last over, it was not easy, I think the way he has bowled and the courage he has shown is amazingm,” added RCB captain.
“At that time, it was clear that we have to take the game deep. So, the discussion was to take the game deep and use KP’s one over at the last. The wicket was good and the ball was coming on nicely to the bat.”
“After the Hardik Pandya over, I went all out. The wrist spinner is one of the main bowlers because they are wicket-taking and the way he (Suyash Sharma) bowled was great,” concluded Rajat Patidar.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru will play their next match against Delhi Capitals on April 10 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
