The legendary captain MS Dhoni’s parents and his whole family are present in the IPL 2025 clash between CSK and DC played on April 05 at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium.
It is the first time since his parents are at Chepauk for the first time since his association with the franchise began in 2008. This has stirred speculations on MS Dhoni retiring after this game.
MS Dhoni has played 268 IPL games and has amassed 5289 runs at an average of 39.18. Known for his leadership skills he has led Chennai to five times victory.
However, he passed on the leadership to Ruturaj Gaikwad ahead of the 2024 season and played as a wicketkeeper batter.
Despite a solid start to the current season, Chennai suffered back-to-back defeats against RCB and RR. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals secured two victories in the matches so far in the ongoing tournament.
Delhi Capitals secured the second spot while Chennai slipped down to 8th in the IPL 2025 points table.
Coming to the match, Delhi Capitals won the toss and opted to bat first. Winning the toss, DC captain Axar Patel said, “We are going to bat first. Feels like there’ll be help for the bowlers. Expect it to get slower as the game progresses. In our team, we have a few players who have captained other franchises and that helps me a lot. Same combination. Faf is not fit for this game, Sameer Rizvi is playing”.
While CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad said, “We were looking to bat as well. Looks a bit dry. It’s a bit cloudy, won’t change much. You always want momentum in T20 cricket. Overall, the chat has been positive.”
“Fielding is something which we can improve day by day. We want to be proactive. Elbow is good. Conway comes in for Overton. Mukesh comes in from Tripathi” concluded Ruturaj Gaikwad.
