With Virat Kohli and Rajat Patidar’s sixty plus score each, Royal Challengers Bengaluru post a mammoth total of 221 against Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Though RCB lost their opening batter, Philip Salt cheaply, RCB’s middle-order batters made an aggressive knock and pushed RCB to surpass 200 runs. Notably, 221/5 is RCB’s second-highest total at Wankhede after their 235/1 against MI in 2015.

Speaking of the match, Mumbai Indians won the toss and opted to bowl first. Phil Salt and Virat Kohli opened the innings for RCB while Boult opened the innings for Mumbai Indians.

In the second delivery of the inning, Boult dismissed Salt for four runs and made an early breakthrough. But Virat Kohli and Padikkal on the other hand made an aggressive start and dragged RCB to score 73 runs at the end of first powerplay.

In the 9th over, Vignesh Puthur dismissed Padikkal for 37 runs and broke the partnership. Though RCB lost their well-settled batter at a crucial stage of the game, Virat Kohli on the other hand, continued to dominate the Mumbai bowlers and scored 67 runs before being dismissed by Hardik Pandya in the first delivery of the 15th over.

In the same over, Hardik Pandya dismissed Liam Livingstone for duck and loaded pressure over the RCB batters. But Jitesh Sharma and Rajat Patidar made an outstanding inning and dragged RCB to post 221 runs for five wickets at the end of 20 overs.
