Lucknow Super Giants spinner Digvesh Rathi has been suspended for a match following his on-field altercation with Abhishek Sharma during the IPL 2025 game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 19 at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
The development comes after a heated exchange with Sunrisers Hyderabad all-rounder Abhishek Sharma and was fined 50 per cent of his match fee, the IPL said in a statement on Tuesday morning.
After the dismissal of the Sunrisers Hyderabad opener, Digvesh Rathi and Abhishek Sharma exchanged words in a heated altercation during SRH’s six-wicket win at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Abhishek Sharma was frustrated over Digvesh’s animated sendoff while walking off the field. The SRH opener made an aggressive knock during Hyderabad’s six-wicket victory, turned back and was involved in an argument with officials and LSG players.
“Digvesh Singh, Bowler, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) has been fined 50 per cent of his match fees for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct,” read the statement.
Digvesh Rathi has been fined multiple times for his ‘notebook celebration’. This was his third offense in this IPL season that Digvesh Rathi has been found guilty of Level 01 offence under Article 2.5. As a result, two demerit points were added to his disciplinary record which are in addition to three demerit points he accumulated earlier.

Since, Digvesh has five demerit points in total, he has been handed a one match suspension and will not be part of LSG’s next IPL match against Gujarat Titans on Thursday in Ahmedabad.
On the other hand, Abhsihek Sharma has also punished for his role in the heated exchange with LSG spinner.
The 24 year old has been fined 25 per cent of his match fees and accumulated one demerit point.
“This was his first Level 1 offence under Article 2.6 this season and hence, he has accumulated One Demerit Point,” the IPL statement read.
