Australia legspinner Adam Zampa has been ruled out of the IPL 2025 and 21-year-old Smaran Ravichandran has been named as the replacement in the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The Karnataka-based batter has joined at a base price of INR 30 lakh. He has played seven first-class games in which he has scored over 500 runs at an average of 64.50, including a double century against Punjab.
He has also played 10 List A games (Vijay Hazare Trophy) scoring 433 runs at an average of 72.16 with two hundreds, while he has scored 170 runs in six T20 games at a strike rate of 170.
“Smaran Ravichandran has 7 First-Class games, 10 List A matches & 6 T20s and has over 1100 runs from these matches. The left-handed batter, who plays for Karnataka in Domestic Cricket, joins SRH for INR 30 Lakh,” IPL said in a statement.

He was reportedly part of RCB’s pre season nets and was impressing coaches. It will be interesting to see him in the SRH team immediately after getting in considering how strong their batting lin-up is.
“It has always been my mindset to win championships for your team, and because that feeling is just unreal,” told Smaran Ravichandran.
“So, everything that I do, be it batting or fielding, revolves around making my team win and bringing the trophy home. So that will continue to be in my mindset, and I hope that I can bring trophies more for Karnataka.”
“The next season will kick off soon so the immediate goal would be to get the Ranji Trophy back home in the next year, back for Karnataka,” he added. “And obviously the long-term goal is to represent the country. I think that’s a byproduct of winning trophies for your team. So yeah, that would be the plan.”
Sunrisers Hyderabad has two wins out of six games in the ongoing season and secured 8th position of the IPL 2025 points table.
SRH will be play their next game against Mumbai Indians on April 17 at Wankhede Stadium.
