IPL 2023 LSG Squad: Lucknow Super Giants – one of the 2 new teams of the IPL 2022 season ended up in 4th position in the last tournament. RPSG Group owned new IPL franchise named Andy Flower as their head coach while Indian wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul has been named as the skipper of the team.
RPSG Group of Sanjiv Goenka won the bid war for a whopping INR 7090 crore (over 932 million USD). The RPSG bid was 250% more than BCCI’s base price of INR 2000 Crores for the IPL team.
Ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction, Lucknow Super Giants roped KL Rahul for INR 17 crores followed by Marcus Stoinis for a pay of INR 9.2 crores and uncapped Ravi Bishnoi for INR 4 crores.
During their maiden season, LSG’s opening batters KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock scripted a record by enlisting their name in the top position of the IPL’s highest-opening partnership list.
Notably, de Kock scored his second IPL century and remains unbeaten for 140 runs. On the other hand, LSG captain KL Rahul scored 68 runs which leads LSG to create a record in their maiden season. The duo made an unbelievable partnership of 210 runs in a match against KKR on May 18, 2022 in Mumbai.

IPL 2023 Auction Rules
As BCCI decides to host IPL 2023 mini-auction, franchises have the advantage of retaining the majority of their players compared to the IPL 2022 mega auction.
- No franchise will be allowed to buy a player beyond their purse balance.
- Each team has to spend at least 75% of their total amount.
- The option of the Right to Match (RTM) card will not be available to franchise.
- The number of players in each team should not exceed 25 while each squad should have a minimum of 18 players.
- Each franchise can have a maximum of 25 Indian players and a minimum of 17 Indian players. Similarly, each franchise can have a maximum of 8 international players in the squad but there’s no capping on the lower limit.
