To date, donning a black band on the arm remains to be a symbol for mourning. Many sports athletes have been seen sporting them to honor a deceased teammate, friend, or even an opponent.

Donning an armband as a symbol for mourning gets the thought across without having to distract from the game or the gameplay.

The Indian players are wearing black arm bands, mourning the sad demise of the veteran singer – Lata Mangeshkar.

Who is Lata Mangeshkar?

Lata Mangeshkar (born on 28 September 1929) was an Indian playback singer and music composer. She is widely considered one of the greatest and most influential singers in India.
