Indian all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar has been signed by Brisbane Heat for the upcoming Women’s Big Bash League 2022.

Pooja Vastraka made her Women’s One Day International cricket debut for India Women against South Africa Women on 10 February 2018 and made her Women’s Twenty20 International cricket debut against South Africa Women on 13 February 2018.

In January 2022, she was named in India’s team for the 2022 Women’s Cricket World Cup in New Zealand. Pooja Vastraka also was named in India’s team for the cricket tournament at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

Pooja caught the attention of the WBBL community with his outstanding performance during India’s tour of Australia in 2021. Pooja Vastraka gets even more notable while playing in the women’s 50-over World Cup in New Zealand earlier this year.

In a match against Australia in ICC Women’s World Cup at Eden Park in Auckland, Vastrakar hits a massive record-breaking six.

In the 49th over of India’s innings, Vastrakar smashed Australian pacer Megan Schutt to an 81-meter six — the biggest of the Women’s World Cup 2022 so far. Notably, The previous best was 80m sixes by Chloe Tyron and Smriti Mandhana.

Heat coach Ashley Noffke was delighted to have signed Vastrakar. “Pooja is an outstanding athlete,” Noffke said.

“She bowls with sharp pace, can find the boundary with the bat down the order, and is an absolute jet in the field.

“We’re very pleased to welcome her to the WBBL and are excited about the experience we can offer her. She’s certainly a player of the future for India and one that we expect can make a difference for the Heat this summer.”
