Marcus Stoinis | Melbourne Stars
It’s a relief to get a win early but the schedule has been nice as well. They let us have a five day lead in to the first game. The boys felt a lot calmer and it felt like we had a better system in place from the start of the tournament. A nice one by Cricket Australia.
(Asked if he was involved in sledging Wade) No, we’re so close (smiles). It’s not even a sledge. I can’t… No, I mean, I love him so it’s good banter. It’s fine.
(On the pitch conditions) I think that was a really good wicket. Honestly, if we can roll that out, I think that’s a good cricket wicket, a really good T20 wicket. (Kellaway) He’s had a really good start to the domestic season. He’s a really good player.
The way he’s been striking the nets, honestly, I don’t want to say anything because I don’t want to jinx it, but he’s batting so well. So it was nice. He was always going to be sent in there.
And it was actually nice for me to spend time in the middle with him. I haven’t batted in the middle with him for maybe never. So he was really good. He was really composed, good communication. He’s going to be a star.
