    Indian former cricketer Sunil Gavaskar slams Rohit Sharma after his early departure in the 1st innings of the 4th Test vs Australia.

    Batting at first Australia poses a target of 369 runs for the 1st innings. India gets in pressure to build a massive opening partnership as they miss the service of strong lower order.

    Post the 3rd Test vs Australia players including Ashwin, Bumrah, Vihari, and Jadeja have been ruled out owing to various injuries. Without the service of the senior bowling unit, India plays the final test with an inexperienced bowling unit.

    Thus India’s top-order batsmen have given the responsibility of scoring big inorder to avoid the massive run chase in the second innings.

    Sunil Gavaskar slams Rohit Sharma

    With tons of responsibilities, Rohit Sharma returns to Pavillion after scoring 44 runs. In the previous test, Rohit scored 26 and 52 runs in the two innings. These back to back non-appreciable innings made netizens to get frustrated.

    Along with the fans Indian former cricketer, Sunil Gavaskar too joins the list and slams Rohit Sharma for his irresponsible innings.

    “Why? Why? Why? That’s an unbelievable shot. That’s an irresponsible shot. There is a fielder there at long oo, there is a fielder there at deep square leg,” Sunil Gavaskar told Channel 7 on Saturday.

    “You have just hit a boundary a couple of deliveries earlier and why would you play that shot? You’re a senior player, there is no excuse, absolutely no excuse for that shot. An unnecessary wicket, an unnecessary wicket gifted away. Totally unnecessary,” Gavaskar added.

    Notably, Rohit looked uncomfortable after playing that “irresponsible shot” as he seemed to have picked up a niggle in his legs. The opener gingerly walked back to the pavilion.

    Post the rain stopped 2nd-day BCCI posted a video on their official Twitter account where Rohit can seen explaining the reason for his dismissal in the first innings at the Gabba Test.
