Former Indian Women cricketer Mithali Raj has been named as the mentor of Gujarat Giants in WPL. As per WPL 2023 schedule, the first match will be played between Team Mumbai and Team Ahmedabad on March 4 with the final match on March 26.

A report confirms that WPL 2023 Auction will be held on February 13 in Mumbai. A total of 5 teams will feature in the WPL 2023 Auction where each team will have a purse value of INR 12 crore(App USD 1.46 million).
BCCI have received INR 4669.99 crores in the Women’s Premier League team Auction. BCCI also confirms that the winner of the WPL 2023 will receive a prize amount of INR 6 crore while the runner-up will receive INR 3 crore. The 3rd team will receive INR 1 crore.
In her role as a mentor and advisor, Mithali Raj will also promote women’s cricket and help develop the sport at the roots level in Gujarat.
“The inaugural season of the WPL is a fantastic move for women’s cricket and the involvement of the Adani Group is a massive boost for the sport as well,” Mithali, a former India captain, said on Saturday.
“Women’s cricket is growing steadily, and this kind of impetus will undoubtedly encourage young women to consider taking up cricket professionally. I believe that the high-impact participation of corporates will help hasten the process of eventually bringing more glory to India. This level of influence can help strengthen the sporting ecosystem and enhance opportunities for women athletes.”
