Women’s T20WC 2026 NZ-W vs SL-W Playing 11: Amelia Kerr-led New Zealand will square off against Chamari Athapaththu-led Sri Lanka in the 07th match of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 on June 15 at The Rose Bowl, Southampton.

Both New Zealand and Sri Lanka lost their opening match of the tournament and will be aiming for a win in the upcoming game.

Currently, New Zealand and Sri Lanka have positioned in the fourth and sixth place in the group B of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 points table.

New Zealand won the toss and opted to bowl. Speaking at the toss, New Zealand captain Amelia Kerr said, “We’re gonna have a bat. Same wicket as the other night, probably a good wicket, and try to get runs on the board again.”

While asked about conditions and today New Zealand playing 11, Kerr said, “I think it’ll be pretty similar. It might get a little bit slower, but yeah only 40 overs been played on it, so hopefully it stays pretty good. Same team.”

“Yeah, it was disappointing. I thought we batted and bowled well, and if we take our chances, we probably win that game by 50 runs. So we were gutted, but we’ve got to turn around, and it’s a chance to show this team’s character, and it’s not a skill thing. We’re a great fielding side, and today’s an opportunity to bounce back.”

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka captain Chamari Athapaththu said, “If we had won, we’d probably decide to bowl first. (How difficult it is to adapt to a different ground?) Yeah, it’s not easy, but as a professional team, we need to adjust to those conditions, and we have to play our best cricket. That’s the most important thing.”

Speaking on the today Sri Lanka playing 11, Athapaththu said, “We are going with three changes. Definitely, we need to improve our bowling line and length.”
