    Former India cricketer Sunil Gavaskar’s The Champs Foundation will offer financial assistance to former India Cricketer Vinod Kambli, who has been struggling with health issues.

    Sunil Gavaskar who met Kambli during the 50th anniversary celebrations of Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, had a brief conversation with Kambli, who had recently recovered from a health setback to attend the event in Mumbai.

    According to reports, Sunil Gavaskar met with Kambli’s doctors the day after meeting the cricketer at Wankhede Stadium. After learning about his health condition, the legendary cricketer instructed The Champs Foundation to begin providing financial and medical assistance.

We want to take care of Vinod Kambli and help him get back on his feet,” Gavaskar said.

    Vinod Kambli made his ODI debut for the Indian team in 1991 and made his test debut in 1993. Initially, he had performed well for Team India. He was the fastest batsman to score 1000 Test runs for India.

    Kambli has scored a total of 1084 runs in 17 test matches for the Indian team which includes 4 centuries and three half-centuries.

    Kambli first grabbed the limelight when he along with Sachin Tendulkar put on a record of 664-run stand in Harris Shield match in Mumbai in 1988.

    Apart from this, he has scored 2477 runs in 104 ODI matches for team India, which includes two centuries and 14 half-centuries. He announced his retirement from first-class cricket on 22 September 2011.

    His performance was very poor in the 2000s and due to this, he was out of Team India. He played his last ODI match for team India against Sri Lanka in the year 2000.
