“Unfortunate for India”, Sreesanth on Kohli’s Dismissal vs Pakistan in Asia Cup 2023

Though the India – Pakistan clash at Asia Cup 2023 ended with no result after rain interrupted the game, the dismissal of Indian star batters became the most discussed topic after that.

Notably, Kohli became a victim of Shaheen Afridi in India’s campaign opener against Pakistan at the Asia Cup 2023 on September 2. It was a good length ball from Shaheen and Kohli got an inside edge on it. The ball first hit his pad and then changed its direction to fall onto the stumps and dismiss the Indian star batter.

Sreesanth added that Pakistan were lucky to get the wicket of the star India batter.

“It was unfortunate for India. Pakistan were lucky to get Virat Kohli’s wicket because it was an inside edge. I don’t count it as a wicket. I know him personally, which is why I know what would have been going through his mind after seeing Pakistan’s celebration. I am just waiting for the next India-Pakistan match,” Sreesanth said.

On winning the toss, India chose to bat where Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill opened for India while Shaheen Afridi opened the attack for Pakistan. The Skipper Rohit Sharma failed to create an impression as he was sent out with 11 runs.

With Virat Kohli sent out with 4 runs by Shaheen Afridi, India is down to 27/2. After Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill was sent out with 14 and 10 runs respectively.

Indian team was pathetic as they lost four wickets for 66 runs in the first ball of the 15th over. Ishan Kishan came to the rescue of the team where he scored 82 runs and with Hardik Pandya’s 87 runs India got back into competition.

Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya had a partnership score of 138. After fall of Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya, the other batters were dismissed with low figures.

Shaheen Afridi was impressive as he scalped 4 wickets in 10 overs for 35 runs, while Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf dismissed three batters each. By the 49th over India was all out scoring 266 runs.

India and Pakistan will once again clash in Super Fours of Asia Cup 2023 on September 10 at R.Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
