SL vs ENG 2nd ODI Playing 11: Charith Asalanka-led side will square off against Harry Brook-led side in the 2nd match of the ODI series in the England tour of Sri Lanka 2026 on January 24 at R. Premadasa Stadium, Colombo.
Sri Lanka secured a 1-0 lead after a 19-run victory and will be aiming to win the series with a victory in Saturday’s clash. Meanwhile, England will be aiming to win to level the series.

Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first. Speaking at the toss, Charith Asalanka said, “We are going to bat first. All 3 departments did very well. Just want to start well in this game as well. Fielding pleased me most.”

“Very mature innings from Kusal Mendis and in the end Wellalage’s final over. We have the same team. 270-280 will be a good score. Spin is very useful in these conditions and we trust these tracks and our spinners deliver all the time,” said Asalanka.
Meanwhile, Harry Brook said, “We’ve got another chase ahead of us, and after the issues we faced against spin the other day, the main focus has been adapting as quickly as possible to the conditions.”
“We expect this pitch to play in a similar way, so at least we’ve got some experience to take into this game. The biggest lesson from the last match is the importance of rotating strike against spin. That was the main threat,” Brook added.
“We have to play the situation as well as we can and give ourselves the best chance to turn things around. There is one change to the team. Crawley is injured, so Will Jacks comes into the middle order, and Rayhan will open the batting,” added Brook.
