Shreyas Iyer to Play in Ranji Trophy semi-finals for Mumbai

The Indian batter Shreyas Iyer is fully fit and set to play in the 1st semi-final match between Mumbai and Tamil Nadu on domestic cricket.

He is looking forward to regaining his form in Mumbai’s encounter against Tamil Nadu. He was sidelined during the last three tests of England’s tour of India in 2024.

India handed debuts to several domestic stars Sarfaraz Khan, Rajat Patidar, and Akash Deep. Rohit Sharma‘s strategy proved to be working as India secured the win in the England series 3-1 after sealing a five-wicket win in the fourth test.

He was considered India’s second senior batter in the first two tests as Virat Kohli missed the series due to the birth of his second child.

Coming to the domestic tournament, a source from Mumbai Cricket Association’s BKC ground on Saturday said the player is ready for selection.

Yes, Iyer has confirmed to the Mumbai Cricket Association that he is fit now and available for Mumbai’s Ranji semi-final match,” said the source.

Following Iyer’s inclusion in the squad, Washinton Sundar and Sai Sudharsan are also set to feature in the Tamil Nadu squad.

Iyer had missed the entire IPL 2023 tournament due to his back injury. He will be leading the side in the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2024 edition.

KKR has strengthened the squad after including Mitchell Starc who was the most expensive player in IPL history. Kolkata will be playing their first match of the IPL 2024 schedule against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23 at Eden Gardens.

Mumbai and Tamil Nadu will be playing the semi-final match starting on March 02 but the venue is yet to be finalised.
