The West Indies’ wk-batter Shai Hope and Jayden Seales’s impressive performance in the third ODI blew Pakistan batters away to post a massive win at Trinidad.

By this win, Shai Hope’s side secured a 2-1 victory in the ODI series in Pakistan tour of West Indies 2025, which is the first time the Men in Green have lost an ODI bilateral series to the West Indies since 1991/92.

The Pakistani side was bowled out for just 92 runs in the decider match on August 12. Despite the presence of star players like Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, they went on to crumble, losing the game by 202 runs.

Fans were fuming over the Pakistan Cricket team, which had not played an ODI bilateral against the West Indies since the 1991/92 season. Many called the team a matter of national shame and embarrassment.

Batting first, West Indies made a decent start with losing three wickets for 68 runs. However, Shai Hope stabilised the innings making a stance. Despite his knocks, Sherfane Rutherford, got dismissed by Saim Ayub for 15 runs.

With Roston Chase 36 runs and Justin Greaves 43 runs, Shai Hope went on to remain unbeaten 120 runs off 94 deliveries. By the end of 50 overs, West Indies went on to score 294 runs.

In the pursuit of chasing 295 runs, Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique opened the innings while Jayden Seales opened the bowling attack where the duo got dismissed for a duck while Babar Azam and Rizwan scored 9 and 0 runs respectively by Jayden Seales.

Despite Salman Aghan, Hasan Nawaz and Mohammad Nawaz showed some resistance, Pakistan could able to reach 100 run mark as they got bowled out for 92 runs in the 30th over.

Jayden Seales went on pick six wicket haul while Gudakesh Motie went on to lose 2 wickets while Chase went on to bag a wicket.

Shai Hope was named as the Player of the Match. Speaking at the post match conference, Hope said, “It was very important for us to go deep. You want to set the tone in PP. I wanted to give the team the best finish as well. We have struggled at times.”

“We had 270-280 in mind. We had wickets in hand, wanted to capitalize. Justin came in and played well. We had a pretty complete game today. I am extremely proud. We tend to stress on the negatives,” he added.

“We have been creating history in the last couple of years. Really great to see the guys pulling this off. Jayden is a quality bowler. I am more excited about his preparation,” further added Hope.

“He is a class act. He can move the ball both ways. Bowling much better in white ball cricket,” concluded Shai Hope.
