Sandeep Warrier Dismisses Jake Fraser McGurk, Prithvi Shaw in a Single Over- IPL 2024 DC vs GT

During the IPL 2024 match between Delhi Capitals and Gujarat Titans played on April 24, the right-arm bowler Sandeep Warrier bagged two wickets of Delhi’s top order in the fourth over of the first innings at Arun Jaitley Stadium.

He also becomes the second bowler to pick three wickets in the powerplay in the ongoing IPL season. Sandeep Warrier who was brought into the squad as Shami’s replacement has bagged his three-wicket haul in the third match he played in this season.

Delhi had a positive start in the start where they scored 35 runs on 19 deliveries. With the magical spell, Sandeep Warrier dismissed Jake Fraser-McGurk and Prithvi Shaw in a single over putting a stop to Delhi’s aggressive batting line-up.

Gujarat Titans have plotted on securing a victory in Delhi’s home ground after their defeat against the same in a low-score encounter on April 17 at Ahmedabad.

Coming to the match, Gujarat Titans won the toss and opted to bowl. Jake Fraser McGurk and Prithvi Shaw opened for Delhi and scored 35 runs for the first wicket. Jake Fraser and Shaw were sent out with 23 and 11 runs in the four over with Noor Ahmad taking both catches.

After the dismissal of openers Axar Patel and Shai Hope came to bat, the latter was sent back to the dugout for 5 runs by Warrier in the 6th over. Sandeep bagged three wickets within the powerplay conceding only 15 runs in three overs he bowled.

Axar Patel and Rishabh Pant joined forces to recover the side from early dismissals as the former smashed a 50 on 37 deliveries. With Rishabh Pant rushing to his fifty, Axar Patel was dismissed in Noor Ahmad’s over after hitting 66 runs in 43 deliveries.

Tristan Stubbs came to bat and had an impressive start smashing a four in the first ball. Pant smashed his half-century in 34 deliveries with a six in the 18th over of the match.

By the 2nd ball of the 19th over, Delhi Capitals crosses the 200 runs mark with Pant’s impressive Six in Mohit Sharma‘s delivery. Pant scored 31 runs in the final over of the match and had an individual score of 88 runs in 43 deliveries.  Finally, Delhi Capitals scored 224 by the end of 20 overs.
