The Afghanistan spinner Rashid Khan has created a world record to become the Highest T20 Wicket-taker and surpassed West Indies legend Dwayne Bravo.
He accomplished this feat during the SA20 2025 qualifier one match between MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals at Gqerbha to overtake legendary Dwayne Bravo who announced his international retirement in September 2024.
During the match, Rashid took 2/34 in her four overs quota getting Dunith Wellalage and Dinesh Karthik scalps while defending 200 runs.
Rashid Khan has 633 wickets in 461 T20s at an average of 18.07, with a best figures of 6/17. He has taken four five-wicket hauls in his career.
“It’s a great achievement,” Rashid told the broadcaster. “I never thought about it, if you asked 10 years before this if I would get there.”
“It’s a proud feeling to be from Afghanistan and to be at that level where you top the table. DJ (Bravo) is one of the best T20 bowlers. It’s a great honour and I’m looking forward to continuing.”

Rashid khan who is the captain of MI Cape Town in SA20, would later dismiss Paarl Royals wk-batter Dinesh Karthi and finish with bowling figures 2/33 from four overs as his team went on to win the contest by 39 runs and enter the title clash.
Rashid is one of the premier cricketers in T20 format across the world including IPL< BBL, CPL, SA20, The Hundred, ILT20, MLC among others.
Rashid who represents Afghanistan in international cricket, made his T20 debut at the age of just 17 years during a T20I against Zimbabwe in 2015. Over the years, he has become one of the format’s finest bowlers, bamboozling batters from across the world.
The 26-year old has IPL, PSL and will be aiming to add an SA20 title to his glowing resume when he leads MI Cape Town in the title clash later this week.
Rashid Khan represents Gujarat Titans in the IPL having been retained by the franchise for a price of INR 15 crore last year.
