PAK vs AUS 1st T20I Playing 11: Salman Agha-led Pakistan will square off against Travis Head-led Australia in the 1st match of the T20I series on January 28 at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.
Australia and Pakistan have met on 28 occasions in T20 format, where Australia has 14 wins, Pakistan has 13 wins, and one game ended with no result.
Similarly, they have close win percentages while clashing in the T20 World Cups, where Australia has four wins while Pakistan has three wins out of seven games.
The T20I series will serve as preparation for the upcoming Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. Despite PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi showing uncertainty over Pakistan’s participation in marquee event, it is evident that the are highly unlikely to boycott the tournament.
Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat. Speaking at the toss, Salman Agha said, “We are going to bat first. Looks a bit dry, might spin later and that’s what I am hoping for.
We know that and we are ready for that. We are also a good team. We just want to play well for 40 overs and we do that, we should be good,” Agha concluded.
Meanwhile, Travis Head said, “Yeah, looks that way. Boys are ready for it, it is a big block for us. Looking forward to get started now.”
“Yeah, few new guys. 3 guys off good Big Bash. It is always exciting for guys to come in for their first game. It is up to us now to make it memorable for them.
Yeah, definitely. Sri Lanka has been tough for us. When we got here, we talked about being adaptable. Hopefully, a little dew comes in and it becomes easy for us,” concluded Travis Head.
