England vice-captain Ollie Pope has registered a unique feat as he scored a century on Day 01 of the third test of the Sri Lanka tour of England 2024 at The Oval.
Ollie Pope smashed his seventh test century in the third test on September 06 reaching a landmark on the opening day as he became the first player of the game to score his first seven centuries against seven different oppositions. Pope scored his maiden hundred (135*) against South Africa in Gqeberha in January 2020.
He scored his second test century against New Zealand in June 2022 in Nottingham while his next four centuries come against Pakistan (108), Ireland (205), India (196), and West Indies (121).

The best innings of his career so far come from England’s tour of India in 2024 where he smashed 196 runs in the first test played at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Finally, the side won the match by 28 runs difference which is their only win in the series.
Coming to the match, England was asked to bat first by the Sri Lanka captain Dhananjaya de Silva on a cloudy morning.
Daniel Lawrence departed with 5 runs in the 10th over, but Pope and Duckett continued to keep the scoreboard moving with their 95-run stand. Duckett was dismissed for 86 runs by Milan. Joe Root was dismissed for 13 runs to leave England on 191 runs.
Following his dismissal Pope scored 103* runs and Harry Brook took England with the score of 221/3 at The Oval.
