The knocks from Mohammad Haris and Mohammad Nawaz have helped Pakistan recover from their top-order collapse against Bangladesh during the Super 4s clash of the Asia Cup 2025.

Their firepower at the death has provided some decent total (135) for their bowlers to defend in must-win clash.

After being put to bat first, Pakistan’s openers, Sahibzada Farhan and Fakhar Zaman, failed to give a solid start as Farhan lost his wicket for four runs by Taskin Ahmed in the first over.

Saim Ayub once again got dismissed for duck from Mahedi Hasan’s delivery. With Fakhar Zaman and Salman Agha at crease, Pakistan went on to score only 27 runs in the powerplay.

With Zaman and Hussain Talat’s dismissal for 13 and 3 runs, Pakistan went on to lost 4 wickets for 33 runs.

After Salman Agha and Shaheen Afridi’s 19 run knocks each, Pakistan went on to lost 6 wickets for 71 runs.

However, Mohammad Haris (31) and Mohammad Nawaz (25) knocks Pakistan did revive their innings before their dismissals at the hands of Mahedi Hasan and Taskin Ahmed.

With Faheem Ashraf’s 14* runs, Pakistan went on to score 135 runs in their 20 over innings.

Speaking at the toss, Jaker Ali said, “We would like to bowl first, looks a pretty dry wicket. We have been doing well while bowling first, so we are going with that strategy.”

“As a bowling unit we have been doing well. We have to bat really well in this match. Before the tournament, we had just decided we’d go out and play for the championship, and we’ll carry the same mindset in this match.”

“We have three changes. Saifuddin, Nasum and Tamim are not playing. Nurul, Taskin and Mahedi are in,” Jaker Ali concluded.

Meanwhile, Salman Agha said, “We wanted to bat first, so it’s okay. Looks a good pitch. Scoreboard pressure is the key. We have defended well after scoring 150-plus. Beating SL was always great. We want to play good cricket and execute our plans.”

“It’s always important playing any final. We want to focus on this game, want to win this game. We want to play good cricket. We are playing with the same side,” concluded Salman Agha.
