The 1st T20I of the Pakistan tour of New Zealand 2024 will be played on January 12 at Eden Park, Auckland. A total of 5 T20 matches will be played during the Pakistan tour of New Zealand 2024.

Santner, currently in isolation at the team hotel, will travel separately for the second T20I in Hamilton on Sunday, 14 January. This isn’t Santner’s first encounter with the virus; he had previously tested positive in 2022 before New Zealand’s tour of Ireland.

New Zealand Cricket released a statement on X (formerly known as Twitter), saying, “Mitch Santner won’t travel to Eden Park this evening for the opening KFC T20I against Pakistan after testing positive for COVID earlier today. He will continue to be monitored over the coming days and will travel solo home to Hamilton”

New Zealand might face a suffer during their 5-match T20I home series without their key player – Mitchell Santner. Santner played a key role in New Zealand’s semi-final run at the 2023 ODI World Cup in India, securing 16 wickets at an economy of 4.84.

New Zealand Cricket have not yet announced any replacement player for Mitchell Santner. It will be a huge set for Santner with T20 World Cup scheduled to play from June this year.
