The wk-batter KL Rahul, who proved his versatility with the bat, has shown his multilingual skills during the first test of India’s tour of England.
On day 04 of the game, he made a classical century, helping India to extend their dominance at Leeds. Opening the second innings, he went on to make partnerships with five batters – Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and Karun Nair.
During the match, he showed his linguistic abilities as he communicated fluently in Kannada, Tamil and Hindi during the match.
It was veteran wk-batter Dinesh Karthik, who was in the commentary team, spotted Rahul’s language skills during the game.
“KL Rahul speaking with Karun Nair in Kannada. He was talking with Sai Sudharsan in Tamil and Rishabh Pant in Hindi earlier. He’s not only versatile with the bat,” said Dinesh Karthik.
The video of him communicating in Tamil has went viral promoting inclusivity and unity in the dressing room. KL Rahul went on to score his ninth century in 202 balls.
In a clip, Rahul can be heard telling Sudharsan in Tamil that the pitch is offering some bounce to the spinner. “Machi, nalla bounce irikke. (There’s some good bounce on the track.),” Rahul told the debutant.

He looked very calm and composed helping India to lead alongside Pant. The duo added 195 run partnership for the fourth wicket. However their partnership break saw the batting order collapse before India declared before stumps at Headingley.
