Ajit Agarkar, Former Indian Fast Bowler is announced as the Indian cricket Team chief selector after the meeting with the Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC), consisting of Ms. Sulakshana Naik, Mr. Ashok Malhotra, and Mr. Jatin Paranjape.
After a long interview with Ajit Agarkar, CAC has come up with the decision to make him a chief selector. Shiv Sundar Das, Subroto Banerjee, Salil Ankola, and Sridharan Sharath will also be part of the selection committee. They were all part of the previous tenure led by chetan sharma as chief selector, who was later sacked after the chaos happened with the sting operation.
Ajit Bhalchandra Agarkar aka Ajit Agarkar, was a Mumbai player who debuted for India in ODI cricket on 1 April 1998 versus Australia and went on to play test cricket the same year. He has 349 international wickets (58 test, 288 ODI, 3 T20i), and 1855 international runs.
He was also a part of the disappointing World Cup campaign in 2007, which later saw him being left out of the Indian setup. Agarkar still went on to play domestic cricket and stood as a force to be reckoned with, then announced his retirement in 2013 from all the formats.
With Asia Cup in August and ICC ODI World Cup in October 2023, Ajit Agarkar has a huge task ahead of him to select the best possible and make India lift the trophies this year.
It’s expected that Ajit Agarkar’s first assignment must be to select India’s T20I Squad for 5 matches in the West Indies Tour, while the squad for West Indies ODI and Tests was already announced by the Interim Chief Selector Shiv Sundar Das.
