The equation for the India semifinals qualification becomes clearer after South Africa’s victory against the West Indies and the Men in Blues’ victory against Zimbabwe.
South Africa’s 9-wicket victory against the Windies gave India a fighting chance and also brought their net run rate equation back into manageable territory.
After the match West Indies’ net run rate dropped to 1.791 from 5.880. With South Africa’s net run rate also dipped to 2.890 despite their victory.
With Zimbabwe eliminated and South Africa already qualified for the knockouts, India and West Indies will be a virtual quarter finals.

India Semifinals Qualification Scenario
Scenario 01: India Beat West Indies
India will be qualifiy for the semifinals if they managed to beat West Indies in their final Super 8s games.
Both teams currently with two points from two games. The winner of Sunday’s encounter will be the second semifinalist of this group.
However, if the match gets washed out due to rain and with no reserve day – West Indies will be advancing to next stage based on their superior run rate.
