The England batter Harry Brook who was bought by Delhi Capitals has pulled out of the IPL 2024 due to personal reasons.

Harry Brook Withdraws from IPL 2024

The batter Harry Brook joined the Delhi Capitals squad for INR 4 crores during the IPL 2024 auction in December last year.

Harry Brook has been one of the notable absentees from the England team. He has withdrawn from the recently concluded England’s tour of India in 2024.

The ECB released a statement about the player’s absence on a recent tour against India.

“The Brook family respectfully requests privacy during this time. In light of this, the ECB and the family kindly request the media and the public to respect their wish for privacy and refrain from intruding on their private space,” stated the ECB.

England players are withdrawing from commitments citing personal reasons before the tournament has become a major issue among the IPL franchises.

They contend such as unexpected and sudden pullouts disrupt their auction planning. IPL franchises consider addressing the issues to BCCI.

“Once players register for the auction, they should honor their commitment. Reneging on it is unprofessional, and the BCCI should address this,” said a franchise official.

This is not the first time the players have withdrawn from the tournament. Players like Alex Hales, Jason Roy, and Mitchell Starc have withdrawn due to similar reasons.

Brook has been playing a significant role in England’s Bazball style. Harry made his IPL debut during the 2023 season when he joined Sunrisers Hyderabad for INR 13.25 crores. He managed to score only 190 runs in the 11 matches he played.

The 17th edition of the IPL 2024 is set to begin on March 22 with Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore to play in the first match of the campaign.

Delhi Capitals will be playing their first match against Punjab Kings on March 23 at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium.
