Bangladesh seamer Taskin Ahmed has landed himself in trouble after assaulting a man. The police have filed a General Diary against the right-arm seamer for assaulting a man in Dhaka.
The incident occured two days after Taskin’s featured in the 3rd T20I of Pakistan tour of Bangladesh 2025, where he picked three wickets.
The reports stated that the complaint filed against Taskin stated that the 30-year-old met his friend named Sifatur Rahman Sourav, and beat him up in Mirpur Model area.
The police have launched an investigation into the matter, and local media in houses Bangladesh tried to contact Taskin Ahmed, but his phone was turned off.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has broken the silence on the matter and remarked that they were conducting a separate investigation.
The BCB director and chairma of the Umpires Committee, Iftekhar Rahman Mithu, commented on the issue.
“I saw the news in the media this morning. Our officials, Aminul Islam Bulbul and Fahim [Nazmul Abedin] bhai, have also seen it. An investigation is already underway. If this really happened, it is very unfortunate. Icon players should not be involved in such matters. I don’t want to comment further until we know exactly what happened,” said Mithu.
Meanwhile, a local news reported that BCB director spoke to Taskin and added that the seamer has remarked that he is innocent and is being trapped in this matter.
“I am not directly involved in this incident. There was a fight between two groups of my friends. One side requested me to call the Mirpur Police Station, so I contacted the Officer-in-Charge (OC).”
“As a result, the other side became angry and filed a GD (general diary) against me. But I had no involvement in the incident itself,” concluded BCB director Mithu.
