Cricket Australia introduced the Electra Stumps in the ongoing Big Bash League 2023-24 season. As per the BBL 2023-24 Schedule, the tournament will be played between December 7 to January 24.
CA Introduced Electra Stumps in BBL 2023-24
The stumps and bails are usually made of wood, most commonly ash, and together form a wicket at each end of the pitch. The stumps are the three vertical posts that support the bails and form the wicket.
The majority of the cricket matches use LED stumps and Bails which flash when they are completely dislodged.
LED stumps were first used at the 2014 ICC World T20, and have since become regular in major ODIs or franchise T20 leagues. They have also been used in day/night Test matches.
Recently, BBL introduced the Electa Stumps in the ongoing BBL season and left everyone in awe.
The stumps, which had been used in the women’s BBL, were used for the first time in the Big Bash League in the match between Adelaide Strikers and Sydney Sixers. The Electra Stumps will flash various colours for various events. Check out the Electra Stumps indications for various events below:

While introducing the Electra stumps, former Australian cricketer Mark Waugh said the colourful stumps were a ‘Christmas gift to the fans and cricketers’.

Speaking on the tournament, Brisbane Heat holds the top position in the BBL 2023-24 Points Table with 3 victories from 4 matches and earned 7 points. On the other hand, teams like Melbourne Renegades, Sydney Thunder, Hobart Hurricanes, and Melbourne Stars still struggle to register their maiden victory.
