All-rounder Brydon Carse has been ruled out of the ongoing Champions Trophy 2025 due to a toe injury he sustained during the opening match against Australia.
The 29-year-old picked an injury during England’s defeat against the Aussies on Saturday after conceding 69 runs in seven overs.
His issues with his toe began during the white-ball series in India, which required stitches and made him miss the last two ODIs.
It is understood that his toe has gotten worse and may require further treatment. He has been withdrawn from England’s squad ahead of the Group B encounter with Afghanistan in Lahore, with their final fixture against South Africa.
Gutted to be losing you, Brydon 👊

With no need for a like-for-like substitute, leg spinner Rehan Ahmed has been called up to fill Carse’s spot.
Rehan who hasn’t been used in the India tour, will bolster England’s spin attack alongside Adil Rashid. He is not expected to be available against Afghanistan, however, he will be arriving in Pakistan on the day of the match.
Playing six ODIs, the 19 year old has claimed 10 wickets. England might use the spin options if they able to qualify to semi finals and ended up playing against India in Dubai which favours spin conditions.
However, Jamie Overton is likely to return to the playing 11 for Afghanistan. England will clash against Afghanistan on February 26 at Gaddafi Stadium.
England Squad: Philip Salt, Ben Duckett, Jamie Smith (wk), Joe Root, Harry Brook, Jos Buttler (c), Liam Livingstone, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Jamie Overton, Saqib Mahmood, Tom Banton, Gus Atkinson, Rehan Ahmed
