The England head coach, Brendon McCullum, has backed England players and asked them to be aware while making comments to the media.
He acknowledged that the necessary transition in mindset for results, but emphasized on the need to differentiate between dressing room discussions.
England are slated to prepare for the upcoming five-match test series against India, followed by the Ashes before the end of the year. The WTC season will have a one-off test against Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge from May 22.
Amid their prepartions, England team have face criticism for their lack of adaptability, their comments in the press have also not gone down well with the pundits.
Ben Duckett’s remark on Champions Trophy defeat after ODI defeat against India saw the batter a lot of backlash from former players as well.
Speaking ahead of the Zimbabwe test, Brendon McCullum said the players has to be more aware of speaking in the dressing room versus speaking in public.

“We’ve just got to be a bit smarter with some of our comments,” McCullum said. “What we say in that dressing room is often very different to what you expect to come out in a public forum.”
“We’ve just got to be aware of that, smart enough to be able to make sure that we articulate things when we get the opportunity so that we don’t we don’t lose touch with the English people.”
Brendon McCullum said that it’s all about how you carry yourself off the field and interact with the public. He also added that players should show the ability to be humble and how some humility.
“It’s not just about what you do on the cricket field. It’s how you carry yourself. It’s how you interact with the public. It’s the messaging that you give.”
“The ability these guys have to be able to play on the biggest stage, under the brightest lights and the pressure is one thing, but also the ability to be humble and show some humility and not feel out of touch with the general population is something I’d like to see us improve on,” said McCullum.
The one off test will be played between May 22 and 25 Trent Bridge before the series against India starting in the June.
