The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to sack assistant coach Abhishek Nayar, fielding coach T Dilip along with strength and conditioning trainer Soham Desai after the Men in Blues disappointing tour of Australia last year.
India suffered a 3-1 defeat which is their first loss in the Border Gavaskar Trophy in over 10 years.
The disappointing defeat has put the role of several coaching staff under the radar, with BCCI reportedly set to break the coaching setup before the team undertakes the tour of England for five test matches, starting in June.
According to reports, BCCI is not too pleased with the influence of the former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) coach in the current Support staff.
After Gautam Gambhir’s appointment as India’s head coach, he brought in Nayar, Ryan ten Doeschate and Morne Morkel joined him as assistants from the tour of Sri Lanka in July 2024.

However, their responsibilities were not explicity defined. Ten Doeschate had been a fielding coach at KKR previously, but the team already had Dilip carrying out that role.
Meanwhile, the BCCI had to bring in the NCA and India A coach Sitanshu Kotak as the batting coach for the white-ball assignments after India’s struggles in home Tests against New Zealand and away against Australia.
For now, Ryan ten Doeschate will take over the responsibilty of the fielding coach while South Africa trainer Adrian le Roux is set to be named in India’s strength and conditioning coach.
India’s hectic schedule after the conclusion of IPL 2025 with five match test series against England, Bangladesh tour in August before the start of the home season against West Indies and Australia.
Meanwhile, there are speculations are rife that BCCI can remove Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja from the A+ category. These players are retired from T20Is after 2024 T20 World Cup triumph.
The Indian Board has delayed the meeting on the finalizing BCCI central contracts after the IPL final on May 25.
