Bairstow Sledge Steve Smith During 2nd Ashes Test; Gets Blunt Response in Return

During the third day of the 2nd Ashes 2023 test series, Jonny Bairstow’s sledging fails as Steve Smith was baffled by the words. The second Test Series between Australia and England commonly called Ashes, where Australia seemed to be in such control on Day 3 making England struggle.

Bairstow Sledge Steve Smith During Lord’s Test

The Australians were along 123/2 when Smith left a delivery from James Anderson, where Jonny Bairstow collected the ball. As Steve Smith was cool enough playing the match, Jonny Bairstow had tensed about the situation.

He tried to sledge Steve Smith which fails to create an impact making a funny comeback to Bairstow. Steve Smith was known for his polite mannerisms, before and after a delivery.  So after he shuffles back after leaving a delivery, Bairstow thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to throw stones at his mannerisms.

He told Steve Smith after collecting the ball, “I reckon you’re the next on Strictly Australia.”

Jonny did not know that the UK show “Strictly Coming Dancing” is telecasted in Australia by the name of Dancing With The Stars”.

But Steve Smith could not understand what his intentions were and replied, “What’s that?”

Bairstow then had to explain his sledge and said, “Bit of dancing for you.” Smith ended the conversation by saying “Wouldn’t have thought so.”

The sledging didn’t hit the mark up to the extent. Speaking up after a day, Kevin Pietersen claimed the England players are being too friendly with Australian players. He said, “It’s all too easy and it’s all too nice.

Are you telling me, Ricky Ponting, in 2005 is going to be talking to Geraint Jones? You think Michael Vaughan is going to be standing next to Justin Langer and saying ‘Awesome mate, what a cool day …’?

“Are you joking? Are you absolutely joking? I just hope they’re in that dressing room now and the England coach is giving them the biggest hammering and saying ‘it’s not good enough, it’s absolutely not good enough!’.”
