Australia’s regular captain Alyssa Healy has been ruled out for India ODIs at home due to a knee injury she suffered during the ongoing WBBL 2024 season.
Healy was ruled out of the remaining of the WBBL campaign earlier this week and continues to regain her fitness ahead of the New Zealand tour.
It has been a frustrating run for Healy who sustained a foot injury during the T20 World Cup. Tahlia McGrath will be leading the side in the absence of the regular captain.
Meanwhile, the domestic campaigner Georgia Voll has been named in Australia squad as Healy’s replacement for the upcoming three match ODI series against India.
Voll has scored 310 runs at an average of 34.4 for Sydney Thunder in the WBBL this season, including stellar knocks of 97 not out and 92. The 21 year old is averaging 67 with a strike rate of 110 in four WNCL appearances for queensland this season.

“Georgia Voll has had a strong start to the summer and has shown her potential over several years,” said Australia women’s national selector Shawn Flegler.
“She’ll form an exciting partnership with Phoebe Litchfield at the top of the order in what will be a great opportunity for her to get a taste of international cricket against a strong India side.”
Fleger also spoke about Healy’s fitness for the New Zealand series, which begins in Wellington on December 19, will be made in due course.
“The decision for Alyssa Healy to miss the India series was made with a longer-term view to the Ashes, with her availability for the New Zealand series to become clearer over the next few weeks,” Flegler said.
“Tahlia McGrath impressed as captain in tough conditions during the World Cup and will have strong support from Ash Gardner who has developed into a strong leader within the side, both on and off the field.”
Sophie Molineux and Darcie Brown despite both players carrying issues in the WBBL.
“Sophie has returned to play following knee soreness which will continue to be managed over the course of the summer,” Australian women’s physiotherapist Kate Beerworth said.
“Darcie has resumed training following a hip muscle strain and is on track for both series.”
The first match of the Women’s ODI series will be played on December 05 at Allan Border Field.
