The South African all-rounder Aiden Markram has been named as the captain of the Durban Super Giants for the upcoming SA20 2025-26 season, which was announced in an eye-catching AI-generated video depicting him steering a ship on stormy seas.
Aiden Markram, recognised as one of South Africa’s prominent leaders, has an impressive track record in the SA20 league. He led Sunrisers Eastern Cape to victory in consecutive titles in 2023 and 2024 seasons.
He has parted ways with Sunrisers Eastern Cape ahead of the season, becoming one of the most coveted players in recent SA20 auction.

After a bidding war, he joined DSG for 14 million which is the second highest price in the league history.
During his interview, he was asked if it helps him that Sanjiv Goenka in both IPL and SA20 where he agreed to it and felt it’s important to understand the dynamics of the individuals.
“It does help. I enjoy consistency. I enjoy mingling with good people regularly and that’s exactly what this franchise is all about. So, now that I’m with them in two of the leagues is really awesome. You understand how people work and how best we can all work together and I think that’s good from a longevity point of view,” Markram said.
He added that Goenka is a passionate individual and loves his franchises and international cricket.
“If you can be a part of one franchise and play in a couple of leagues and still play international cricket, you are really blessed,” added Markram.
“I remember having a good discussion with our big boss Mr. Sanjiv Goenka to see how passionate he is about his franchise, but also about international cricket. He’s a wonderful man to be able to speak to and bounce ideas,” Aiden Markram concluded.
