Aakash Chopra Warns Sanju Samson; Says ‘Don’t Waste Your Chance’

Former Indian Player Aakash Chopra says the batter Sanju Samson should make use of the opportunities which have been given to him. He was sent into the middle order to bat at No.5 after the 2nd T20I match. Chopra thinks he might need to perform well to secure his spot in the Squad.

Aakash Chopra warns Sanju Samson Over his Performance in WI T20I Series

Sanju Samson was dismissed for 12 and 7 runs in the 1st T20I and 2nd T20I respectively in the ongoing T20I series against West Indies. The Hardik Pandya-led Indian team had victory in the third T20I match against West Indies and stay alive in the T20I series on the WI tour.

The defeat in the first two T20Is disappointed Indian fans and former cricketers. Aakash Chopra slams Sanju Samson for his poor batting performance in the T20I series.

Indian team gave him a chance as he had scored a half-century in the ODI series, but his performance in the short format was not up to the extent.

Aakash Chopra warns Samson, saying not to waste his chance or else he will be replaced by wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma in the squad.

“Sanju Samson – don’t waste your chance. If you waste your chance, you will remember it later. It is not that if Ishan Kishan goes from the top, Sanju cannot go from below. Both can go and Jitesh Sharma can come,” said Chopra on his YouTube channel.

The batter did not get the chance to bat in the third T20I match against West Indies.

During the second T20I, the batter Suryakumar Yadav failed to provide Team India with the required game as he was sent out on run out with 1 run. Chopra stated that Surya should be careful about calling the players for a run.

“Suryakumar Yadav, you can’t doubt the player, got run out in one match. He should have said ‘No’ in the last match. It was a non-existent single. It was Ishan Kishan’s mistake, in my opinion, but whoever gets out in the end is at fault,” said Chopra.

“So if Suryakumar had refused and in that if Ishan had gotten out, so be it. Surya getting out didn’t really work out for India. Tilak Varma is playing well at No. 4, so let’s not talk about him,” he added.

Even the former Pakistan Cricketer Danish Kaneria had talked about Sanju Samson.

“India rested Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli so that they could give others a chance, as many have complained that a few players haven’t had enough opportunities.

Now that India has played them, when are you going to score runs, Sanju Samson?” Kaneria said on his YouTube channel.

“He has had enough chances now. I was among the people who supported him and wanted him to get consistent opportunities. However, he hasn’t made the most of these chances,” he added.
