Jacob Duffy | New Zealand
How can you not love it on a sunny day like this? It’s beautiful Dunedin weather. Early season, there’s always a little bit in the pitch for us. The ground’s done an awesome job – it’s a great wicket.
I thought we did well to restrict a good West Indies team to 140. We just wanted to be clinical. This was our last game in New Zealand before heading away as a T20 squad, so it was about finishing off the series well and taking that momentum forward.
I’d like to think we’re pretty level-headed. We had a job to do – to win games of cricket for our country – and that’s where the focus was. T20’s a huge asset of mine with the swing up top and taking wickets in the powerplay.
That’s always my role – swing the ball early and try to make things happen. Maybe less so against these guys with the length of their batting lineup, but that’s still the plan. That’s a scary lineup (talking about the depth in West Indies batting) – they go all the way.
Springer was batting at 11 the other day. It’s a strong side with power all the way down, so I’m glad we didn’t have to bowl too much at the death today.
There were a couple of 200 scores in the series, but it was just great cricket, wasn’t it? Some awesome games, tight finishes, especially those first three. Hopefully the crowds have enjoyed that.
