Chennai Super Kings(CSK) lost a review earlier in the game while attempting to dismiss Virat Kohli who was given “not-out” by the on-field umpire following an LBW appeal from Khaleel Ahmed.
The incident took place in the first delivery of the third over bowled by Khaleel Ahmed. Khaleel made a very confident appeal for LBW dismissal but the on-field umpire straight away gave not-out. Khaleel somehow convinced MS Dhoni and Ruturaj Gaikwad to take a review but the hosts lost the review as the ball pitched “outside leg“.
CSK had the worst average and scoring rate for openers in IPL 2024. The new pair of Rahul Tripathi and Rachin Ravindra didn’t get off to the best start against MI. Notably, each of RCB’s last four wins vs CSK (starting 2019), have come while defending totals.
It is also worth mentioning that Virat Kohli attempted a sweep once every five balls he faced from spin against KKR.
Shivam Dube has an impressive record against RCB, having hit 234 runs at 158.11. While Ravichandran Ashwin has a good record against Patidar, the best-spin hitter in RCB’s ranks.
In the CSK vs RCB clash in MA Chidambaram Stadium, CSK won the toss and opted to bowl first.
Speaking of the game, Virat Kohli and Phil Salt opened the batting attack for RCB, while Khaleel Ahmed opened the bowling attack. Phil Salt struck consecutive boundaries in the first over and managed to score nine runs off the first over.
Phil Salt continued the momentum and struck a six and boundary in the first two balls from Ashwin who bowled the second over of the inning. Chennai lost a review in the third over in an attempt to dismiss Virat Kohli.
