    IPL 2026 Auction Date: According to BCCI guidelines, the mini auction will take place in the January-February Window following the player trade window in December-January.

    Although the exact date of the auction is yet to be disclosed, several sources have hinted that the IPL 2026 auction dates will be announced very soon.

    This mini auction for IPL 2026 will allow franchises to target their required players for completing their squad after the pre-auction trade window.

    Player Retention Rules

    As per IPL 2026 auction rules and regulations, all teams must reveal the list of retained and released players ahead of the auction. It can include  Indian players, uncapped Indian players, and overseas players. Each team can retain a maximum of 4 capped Indian players, 2 uncapped Indian players, and 2 overseas players.

    The price pool for the IPL 2026 auction for each franchise will be INR 151 crore which was INR 120 crore in 2025 season.

    If any overseas player wishes to participate in the IPL 2026 mini auction, they must have registered for the 2025 IPL mega auction. The only exceptions to this rule are for players who were unable to register for the mega auction due to injury or medical exemption.

    IPL 2026 Auction Venue

    The IPL 2026 player auction is scheduled to be a one-day mini-auction held on December 16, 2025, at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

    IPL 2026 Auction Live Streaming

    Assuming the broadcaster not to change, the IPL 2026 auction live streaming will likely be available on Star Sports Channel in India.

    BCCI has earned INR 48,390 crores (digital+TV) from the IPL 2023-27 media rights. Across five years of media rights, a total of 410 matches will be played where BCCI earns roughly INR 118 crore per match.

    Disney Star retained their Indian sub-continent TV rights by paying Rs 23,575 crore (Rs 57.5 crore/game) while Viacom18 bagged the digital rights with a winning bid of Rs 23,578 crore.
