IPL 2024 Auction Date: Ahead of the Indian Premier League 2024, BCCI planned to host a mini-auction for the tournament.
BCCI planned to host the IPL 2024 Auction in Dubai on December 19. The IPL 2024 Auction will be preceded by the auction for the Women’s Premier League (WPL), expected to take place on December 9.
IPL 2024 Auction
IPL 2024 Auction: Unlike mega-auction, each squad can retain the majority of their players ahead of the IPL 2024 Auction.
The difference between a mega auction and a mini-auction is that before a mega auction, teams are only allowed to retain three to five players, whereas, before a mini-auction, franchises can retain any number of players.
For IPL 2024 Mini Auction, there are no restrictions on the number of players who can be released or retained. In addition to the purse remaining from the previous auction and the value of the players they release, teams will have an additional INR 5 crore to spend in the auction.
As per a report, IPL teams need to submit the retained and released players list by November 26th. As of the previous season, BCCI allowed franchises to use the “TRADE” option where teams can exchange players between them.
Each franchise must spend a minimum of three quarters of their total purse which is set at INR 100 crores – five more than last year.
There will be no Right to Match card available to teams this year. The card has previously allowed franchisees an opportunity to buy back a player they were unable to retain ahead of the auctions by matching the price of the highest bidder in the auction.
