IPL 2022 Squad

The IPL 2022 squad for all 10 teams will be updated here right after the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Until then check out the possible retention of all 8 teams below:

IPL 2022 CSK Retained Players

MS Dhoni confirms that he will play his last match in Chepauk. This means he will lead CSK in IPL 2022.

Set 1

Chennai Super Kings looks its all possible way to retain Ruturaj Gaikwad who plays a crucial role in winning IPL 2021 trophy. Notably, Ruturaj Gaikwad is the orange cap holder of IPL 2021.

If CSK decides to retain players in 2+2 format that is 2 Indian players with 2 foreign players then the following will be the possible IPL 2022 CSK retention:

Set 1

When it comes to retaining foreign players CSK will definitely look for Moeen Ali, Faf du Plessis, and Dwayne Bravo. As Moeen and Faf play a crucial role in IPL 2021, CSK will look out for the duo at max.

IPL 2022 MI Retained Players

IPL 2022 MI squad: As above mentioned if Mumbai Indians don’t show interest in picking Hardik Pandya then the Mumbai-based franchise will retain the following players.

It is almost impossible for Mumbai Indians to look beyond Rohit Sharma and Jasprit Bumrah as they are the main pillars of the team in their perspective roles.

Ishan Kishan

Mumbai Indians will definitely retain Pollard who is the best all-rounder they had in their pool. For the remaining Indian player retention, Mumbai Indians will look to retain Ishan Kishan who plays as wicket-keeper batsman position.

Set 1

PlayerRole

Set 2

On the other hand, Mumbai Indians will not dare to lose their inform batsman Suryakumar Yadav who scored 317 runs in IPL 2021 tournament on playing all 14 league matches.

Since 2018 Suryakumar Yadav plays a key role in Mumbai Indians batting unit. Check out his performance of the last four IPL seasons below:

If Mumbai Indians decide to retain Suryakumar Yadav they have to release Ishan Kishan. Once Ishan Kishan comes under the auction hammer CSK will definitely put all its effort to rope him as the replacement for MS Dhoni for future CSK.

Set 3

If Mumbai Indians seek to fill the list of retained players with an Indian all-rounder, MI has no other option than to retain Hardik Pandya. But Hardik Pandya has not been bowled a single ball in the IPL 2021 and in IPL 2020. Hardik also had a poor contribution with the bat in IPL 2021.

Hardik scored only 127 runs on playing 12 matches in IPL 2021 which is an unacceptable performance for a class player like him.

PlayerRole

Set 4

But in case Mumbai Indians decide to strengthen their bowling unit with an Indian bowler then its hard to look beyond Rahul Chahar. Chahar bags 13 wickets by playing 11 matches in IPL 2021 with an economy rate of 7.39.

IPL 2022 MI Retention – 2 Indian Players with 2 Foreign Players

If MI decides to retain players in 2+2 format that is 2 Indian players with 2 foreign players then the following will be the possible IPL 2022 MI retention:

Set 1

As discussed above it’s hard for Mumbai Indians to release Rohit Sharma and Bumrah, so keeping them in the squad with Pollard, retaining aggressive fast bowler Trent Boult will be the first choice of IPL 2022 retention for Mumbai Indians.

Trent Boult picked 13 wickets on playing 14 matches in IPL 2021 with an economy rate of 7.90.

IPL 2022 RCB Retained Players

Harshal Patel, who won the Purple Cap in IPL 2021 will be the next player to retain by the RCB in IPL 2022 Mega Auction. Other than these two Indian players Devdutt Padikkal the opener who scored back to back 400+ runs in his last IPL seasons will be the third retaining option for RCB.

As 2 new IPL teams have been included in the auction, they will seek to build a better team to start their IPL 2022 campaign.
