The New Zealand seamer Blair Tickner sustained a shoulder injury during the opening day of the second test against the West Indies in Wellington.
The Blackcaps’ injury woes have worsened as the side has been hit with back-to-back injury concerns during the test series of the West Indies tour of New Zealand 2025.
Blair Tickner, who is playing his first test since 2023, has been impressive with ball picking 4 wickets, conceding 32 runs, ripping up the visitors’ top order.
Tickner has been drafted in after Matt Henry and Nathan Smith were ruled out of the first test. He dismissed Brandon King for 33 runs and Kavem Hodge for duck. He also send off Shai Hope for 48 runs and knocked out Roston Chase to strengthen their side’s position on opening day.
The incident happened in the 67th over of the innings, While chasing a shot from Tevon Imlach near the boundary, Tickner landed awkwardly while driving to stop the ball.

He stayed on the ground before being attended by teammates and medical staff. He was then taken off the field on a stretcher, sitting and received a warm welcome from fans before being transported to the hospital for the further checks.
If Tickner is ruled out for the rest of the game, it would be a huge setback for an already inexperienced pace attack which features Jacb Duffy, Zak Foulkes and Michael Rae.
The hosts are losing their third fast bowler in the mid of the series. New Zealand has a long list of injured fast bowlers this series which includes, Matt Henry, Nathan Smith, Ben Sears, Will O’Rourke and Matt Fisher.
West Indies lost all 10 wickets for scoring 205 runs and New Zealand started their first innings and scored 24 runs by the stumps on day 01 at Basin Reserve, Wellington.
