The fast bowler Shamar Joseph has been ruled out of the upcoming two-match test series against India due to an injury, with uncapped all-rounder Johann Layne has been named as his replacement.
The Cricket West Indies went on to announce the news on their social media handle, which stated the pacer has been out of the West Indies tour of India 2025. However, the board did not disclose the nature of the injury.
It is reported that he would be re-evaluated before the white-ball tour of Bangladesh. After the test, West Indies are slated to play three match ODI and T20I series in October.

Following the Bangladesh tour, the Windies will fly to New Zealand to play mult format series in the UAE for three T20Is against Nepal starting on September 27. Shamar Joseph has played 11 tests so far and picking 51 wickets at an average of 21.66.
Johann Layne has played 19-first class matches in which he has picked 66 wickets at an average of 22.28.
Layne will be joining Alzarri Joseph, Jayden Seales and Anderson Phillip in the pacer attac, which also has all-rounder Justin Greaves with Jomel Warrican, Khary Pierre and captain Roston Chase.
The first match of the test series will be played between October 02 and 06 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
