The fast bowler Jacob Duffy will be returning to International cricket after being named in the New Zealand squad for the upcoming five-match ODI series against the West Indies.
Duffy has been out of international action since the start of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup earlier this year, as he welcomed his first child recently.
Jacob Duffy played for RCB in the IPL 2026, where the side claimed its second title. However, he missed the England Tests following the birth of his child.
Meanwhile, Matthew Fisher will be joining Jacob Duffy in the New Zealand squad for the ODI series, which begins on July 11.
Having made his test debut against Zimbabwe in August 2025 and T20I debut against Bangladesh this year, he is in contention to make his ODI debut in the upcoming series. He has picked 43 wickets in 25 List A matches at an average of 26.
Meanwhile, seamers like Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry, and Will O’Rourke will be missing the series to manage their workload.
On the other hand, Blair Tickner and Devon Conway will also be missing the series due to ankle surgery and family reasons, respectively. On the other hand, Rachin Ravindra has missed out as he is currently playing in MLC 2026.

Speaking on the ODI squad selection, New Zealand coach Rob Walter is looking forward to preparing the side for the 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia.
“It’s great to have Jacob and Matt joining the group, and I know they’ll bring a lot of energy and excitement,” he said.
“It’s a nice opportunity to introduce Matt to the ODI group for the first time. He bowls with good pace and has been working hard on his variations to ensure he can bowl at different stages of the innings.
“Jacob has been a stand-out for us in all formats for the past couple of years. His skills and experience will be a great addition to our squad, and I know he’s looking forward to representing New Zealand again.”
The first match of the ODI series will be played at Providence Stadium, Guyana.
