SA vs AUS Highlights
Day 01
- Batting first, Australia suffered quick wickets, but Steve Smith and Beau Webster played crucial knocks helping the side to cross 200-run mark in their first innings.
- Rabada picked five wicket haul while Marco Jansen picked three wicket haul punishing Australia batters in their innings.
Day 02
- South Africa resumed their innings but went on lost wickets scoring only 138 runs in their first innings. Bavuma and Bedingham are the leading run scorer for South Africa scoring 36 and 45 respectively.
- Pat Cummins bagged six wickets causing destruction in the South Africa batting line up. Starting their second innings, Australia went on to score 144 runs for eight wickets by the end of day 02.
- Alex Carey was the leading run scorer (43) runs while Marnus scored 22 runs. Kagiso Rabad and Lungi Ngidi went on to pick three wickets each restricting Australia to post huge score in their second innings.
Day 03
- Resuming the game, Australia went on to score 207 runs in their second innings. Rabada went on to complete his bowling picking four wickets.
- Starting their second innings, South Africa lost an early wicket and lost the second wicket for 70 runs.
- However, Aiden Markram and Temba Bavuma went on to make a solid partnership where Markram smashed a century and remained unbeaten by the end of day 03 and Bavuma scored 65* runs at the game needing only 69 runs to achieve ultimate glory.
Day 04
- Resuming the game, South Africa’s Temba Bavuma went back to dugout for 66 runs. Aiden Markram went on to score 136 runs leading the side towards victory.
- Securing a five wicket victory, South Africa went on to clich their maiden ICC WTC title ending their ICC trophy drought.

Aiden Markram | South Africa
(On if he’s scored more important runs) Not at all. Weird how things work out if you see the first innings. Ultimately you get luck and it worked out. It will yes. Lord’s is a place where every Test cricketer wants to play.
Plenty of South African fans were there and it was one of those special days. It’s not always one-sided, you absorb the pressure and it was about maximising the scoring options. (Lyon) He is one of the best in the world, we had plenty of banter with him, said to him he is one of the best.
Tough to have got over the line. Lot of it came from him (Bavuma), he has always led from the front, found way a to score runs and those sort of knocks are something people will remember you for.
