VVS Laxman has praised Vaibhav Suryavanshi for his heroics during India’s tour of Zimbabwe 2026 for his assessment, learning ability and improvement in his game.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi put up a brilliant 81 runs off 49 deliveries during the final T20I game, setting up a base for India to post a solid total before securing a 35-run victory to complete a 3-0 clean sweep.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi was named the Player of the Match and Player of the Series after finishing the three games with 151 runs.

Despite his numbers being impressive, the left-hander, who is known for explosive starts, adapted his approach on a slower surface and reached half century in 31 deliveries. He scored 81 runs at a strike rate of 165.30.

Speaking after India’s 3-0 win against Zimbabwe, India’s interim head coach VVS Laxman said Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s ability to learn after every game and training session has impressed him.

“Very mature. And that’s what I really appreciate about Vaibhav. With every experience, every match, he understands, he assesses, and he gets better,” Laxman said. “So I think he does a lot of review of every practice session. Not only match.”

VVS Laxman felt that the conditions made Suryavanshi’s innings particularly significant. The ball was not coming onto the bat freely, forcing the youngster to adjust rather than simply rely on his natural attacking instincts.

“So today, what you saw was a mature innings. Because it was a used wicket. The wicket on which we played the match yesterday. So the ball was stopping and coming. The wicket was slow,” Laxman said.

VVS Laxman also revealed that Zimbabwe had a strategy to contain Suryavanshi after his impact earlier in the series.

“And I thought today the Zimbabweans bowled well. Had a plan for him. So he countered that plan. And it was a very, very mature knock from Vaibhav.”

This knock marks Suryavanshi’s second half-century of the series after smashing a 19-ball fifty in the opening T20I, where India secured a 7-wicket victory. With a composed knock in the finals T20Is, Laxman highlights, Suryavanshi showed he could dominate when conditions allowed, but also adapt when bowlers and surfaces demanded a different approach.
